Inclusion and Diversity

Inclusion means that every child matters and everyone belongs.  We strive hard to ensure that all children and families are treated with equal respect and access to the curriculum and wider centre services.

We recognise that children learn at different rates and that there are many factors affecting achievement including ability, social and emotional state, age, maturity and background.  At Robert Owen, each child is entitled to appropriate support to meet his or her individual needs.  We aim to create a sense of community and belonging for all learners. If you would like to know more about how we support children with SEND at our school, please go to the SEND page of our website.

Anti- Racist Statement

Robert Owen Nursery School believes that all children are entitled to high-quality education unhindered by discrimination.

We recognise our responsibility in expanding children’s life experiences and in partnership with you we want the best for all our children. Every child needs to feel confident, powerful and resilient so that they can bring about progress and change.

We have been educating ourselves further to create our anti-racist policy and reflect on our practice. We have a working party that meets and has created a questionnaire for staff and parents and we have created a staff board where we can share British Black History.

We cannot be complacent. We recognise that we are on a journey to ensure that our staff team and governing body reflect our diverse community.

This is an ongoing journey and we would like your voices and views on our community. Please speak to a member of the team if you would like to get more involved.
